As 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸, Manchester United will seek to extend their winning streak to 3 games, as they travel to face Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Red Devils currently occupy the 4th spot on the Premier League standings, with a total of 38 points with 22 games played, only a point ahead of West Ham. Burnley, on the other hand, are struggling as they sit at the bottom of the table with only 13 points, having 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 against Brentford.

Manchester United will be looking to leave behind the bitter taste of their 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗔 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 by taking all 3 points against Burnley this Wednesday.

On the last day of 2021, Manchester United played Burnley at Old Trafford, and walked away with a convincing 3-1 win in what was one of the better performances that United had put on since Ralf Rangnick took over as interim manager, on both individual and team levels.

In fact, 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝟯 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀, losing 3-1 twice, and 1-0 on the other occasion.

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲. While they are currently up in 4th in the standings, their position remains precarious. While top 4 contenders Arsenal and Tottenham place below United, they 1 game and 2 games in hand respectively, and wins from both the London teams will see United drop back down to 6th.

Anything short of 3 points just will not do for Ralf Rangnick & co. Of course, Burnley will be extremely motivated to deliver a painful blow to United’s hopes, as they continue their push out of the relegation zone.

Burnley have only played 19 games this season, as opposed to fellow strugglers Newcastle & Watford’s 21 games apiece. A win over the Red Devils this Wednesday will see Burnley miraculously make it out of the relegation zone, despite only having won 1 game this far.

Burnley will have Josh Brownhill back from suspension for Tuesday’s contest, and the midfielder is expected to go straight back into the starting side at Turf Moor.

The Clarets will again definitely be missing Matej Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, while Ashley Barnes and Charlie Taylor could also be unavailable for selection.

Dyche is unlikely to make many alterations from the side that started the goalless draw with Watford, but Jay Rodriguez could be introduced alongside Weghorst in the final third, with Maxwel Cornet moving out wide.

As for Man United, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes are expected to overcome issues that they picked up against Middlesbrough, while Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani will come back into the squad.

Victor Lindelof remains a doubt through illness, though, while Eric Bailly (ankle) and Mason Greenwood (club suspension) will again be unavailable for selection on Tuesday night.

Fred and Alex Telles are also out of the contest, having both tested positive for COVID-19.

Rangnick will make changes from the side that started in the FA Cup, with David de Gea and Anthony Elanga all in line to return to the first XI, but Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba should keep their spots.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty against Boro on a frustrating night for the Portugal international, but he will again lead the line, with Sancho dropping to the bench to allow Elanga to return.

It is highly likely that 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵, and Burnley will have to keep searching for a way out of the bottom of the Premier League standings.
