Race 1: Cuckoo Handicap

#1 Gameplayer Times has shown a liking to the dirt and his latest trial was nothing short of impressive, especially the manner he closed off in. He draws well and looks ready to put his best foot forward here. #4 El Jefe has shown that racing on the dirt is no hindrance. He comes into this second-up which bears close watching. #6 Fairy Floss proved a revelation on the dirt last season with four wins from his last six runs, all on the surface. He’s favoured by the inside draw. #8 London Luckystar is next best.

Race 2: Hwamei Handicap

#10 G One Excellent is better than his record suggests. He caught the eye on debut last season finishing alongside some handy types and his luckless first-up run this campaign deserves forgiveness. Suspect he can give this contest a big shake. #5 Master Aqua steps out for the powerful David Hayes barn. He caught the eye in a recent trial and does appear forward enough to challenge this lot first-up. #11 Glenealy Generals is consistent in his spot. #9 Smart Idea is lightly raced but it wouldn’t surprise to see him piece it all together.

Race 3: Lark Handicap

#8 Mister Monte draws to find the front and from there he could prove difficult to catch. He’s an eight-year-old now so he isn’t getting any older, but gate two and the apprentice’s claim should give him every chance to play a strong game of catch me if you can. #4 Turf Brilliant loves the surface and won well two starts ago. He should get every opportunity from gate three. #11 Apolar Warrior is proving somewhat of an enigma, but his latest trial was nothing short of impressive. #6 Lucky Puzzle should improve at his third try in the bottom grade.

Race 4: Magpie Handicap

#4 King Of The Court steps out on debut off the back an eye-catching trial on the dirt. Assuming Chris So has him screwed down for this, he does appear well educated and enough so to suggest that he could win at his first try. #9 Lucky Maryknoll is the only filly/mare currently in training in Hong Kong. She’s on the rise now and it wouldn’t surprise to see her jag another. #1 My Ecstatic has the class-edge. Soft gate suits, especially with the big weight. #2 Courageous Knight is open to improvement.

Race 5: Shrike Handicap

#3 Super Elegance steps out first-up off the back of no trials. Still, he ran well upon resumption last term and although he is yet to win, he has gone close on several occasions. The distance suits and he has proven himself to be very competitive up in grade. #6 Robot Warrior is lightly raced but not without his fair share of ability. Class 4 suits #4 Decisive Action. He’ll need luck but should get it from gate two with Zac Purton. #1 Party Everyday has ability and has shown potential on the turf. He’ll be thereabouts.

Race 6: Sunbird Handicap

#5 Beauty Spirit is a two-time course and distance winner in the grade above. He’s down in class now and he should be fit following a competitive first-up run. #7 President’s Choice closed off stoutly last time out. He steps up in trip here with an added furlong on offer which looks a bonus. #13 Sunny Baby is slowly coming to hand. He’s another who looks set to benefit from the step up in trip. Light weight and good gate should afford him his chance. #6 Flying Victory has a bit of a class-edge here. Don’t discount with Zac Purton up.

Race 7: Swallow Handicap

#4 Leap Of Faith is an ultra-consistent customer. The draw suits, Joao Moreira hops up and he steps out following an easy win in this grade at his final run of last term. #1 California Ten mixes his form but has shown ability. Jerry Chau has a solid record for Tony Cruz and this small but competitive contest appears suitable. #5 Enzemble surprised at 57/1 two starts ago when leading from the get-go. Suspect he tries the same again here. #8 Entrusted logged a career-best second last start. Same performance again has him in contention.

Race 8: Chinese Recreation Club Challenge Cup Handicap

#3 Drops Of God is a two-time winner from four starts. He’s a supreme talent who looks awfully difficult to beat. The draw isn’t ideal but if he can cross without too much trouble then this is his race to lose. #6 Star Of Yuen Long has more ability than his record suggests. Suspect he also goes forward to stake his claim. #1 Equaletta Blitz steps out for new trainer Douglas Whyte. He has ability and is worth keeping an eye on. #9 Copartner Ambition will need luck from the rear of the field. Still, he owns a sharp turn-of-foot when required.

Race 9: Tailorbird Handicap

#2 Hall Of Champ looks well placed second-up for trainer Caspar Fownes. He was hampered by gate 13 last start but he draws much better in gate three which should see him expend no energy throughout as he bids for a fourth course and distance success. #11 Perfect Pair is consistent and he slots in light here, especially with jockey Zac Purton opting to ride. The draw hurts but he’s consistent and warrants respect. #1 Super Oasis closed off nicely last start. He’s favoured from gate four. #13 Dragon Fortune is a talent. Must include.

Race 10: Woodpecker Handicap

#3 Super Football is class and he looks well placed here to make a winning return this season. He’s a winner in this grade and the return to a mile looks suitable after stretching out to nine furlongs last season, even though he won. Suspect he has a way to go before reaching his ceiling. #11 C P Brave is showing both brilliance and adolescence. He has the talent to match his quirks but can do a bit wrong. Expect a big finish. #4 Flying Quest can finish off from the good gate with the apprentice engaged. #5 Highland Fortune is next best.
