SINGAPORE KRANJI RACE 23/01/2020 PREDICTION

The fourth meeting of the new season and, remarkably, still no sign of the champion Jockey or Apprentice from 2020.

Below are the match analysis for the 4th meeting of Kanji race.

RACE 1 (12:30) CLASS 5 (1)

1st Pick: BEAR WITNESS (1)

Has a very good record in this grade and should be hard to hold back.

2nd Pick: KING ZOUSTAR (3)

In decent form and can once again run a nice race here.

3rd Pick: CENTURION (2)

Well handicapped now down in to Class 5 grade and is a danger to all. Interesting.

4th Pick: AWESOME CONQUEROR (5)

A course and distance winner and is in form without winning of late. Go close.

RACE 2 (13:00) MAIDEN

1st Pick: YES ONE BALL (4)

Third last time out was a better effort and has won a trial since. Best of an ordinary bunch.

2nd Pick: JUST STARS (3)

Has more form than most and should go well.

3rd Pick: SHOWBOUND (2)

Ran well enough last start behind stablemate Entertainer and wouldn’t shock if he shapes up well here.

4th Pick: SUPER PINS (1)

One to include for the multiples in this trappy little heat.

RACE 3 (13:30) CLASS 4 (2)

1st Pick: SACRED JUDGEMENT (5)

One-paced at his first start after a short let-up. Will improve from that run. Commands respect.

2nd Pick: WHISTLE GRAND (7)

In solid form. Quiet trial last week. Will storm home late. Include in calculations.

3rd Pick: MERYL (4)

Back from a spell. Last run came in Group 1 Singapore Guineas, but race was not run to suit. Was a spent force from a long way home. Can go well fresh, but wide gate is a query.

4th Pick: WILD BEE (3)

No world-beater but seldom disappoints. Drawn awkwardly but he gets back, anyway. Keep safe.

RACE 4 (14:00) CLASS 5

1st Pick: ZAHAU (1)

The obvious pick on the second to Starlight when last seen in action. He is lightly-raced and connections have found a very winnable race. Hard to beat with Ruan Maia booked.

2nd Pick: GOLD KINGDOM (5)

The return to the Polytrack is a plus and can give the topweight most to do.

3rd Pick: BLITZ POWER (4)

The race tempo can suit this mare who will get back and run on.

4th Pick: TIGER FORCE (3)

Can run good time and is in the mix.

RACE 5 (14:30) OPEN MAIDEN (WEIGHT FOR AGE)

1st Pick: SUN COUNCIL (2)

Has been racing well and battled hard last time out when going close in a busy finish, has plenty going for him.

2nd Pick: VALENCIA (1)

A nice type of horse who has been off the track for a while now, has trialled well enough and can run a nice race first-up here.

3rd Pick: STRONG N BEST (7)

This will be only his third start and he isn’t as exposed as most of these. Improved run in store.

4th Pick: PASIR PINJI (3)

Another that has been off for a while and if ready first time, can offer some value here.

RACE 6 (15:00) CLASS 4

1st Pick: HARD TOO THINK (8)

Too far back last start but ran on fairly. Seems to have made further headway. Go close.

2nd Pick: LUCK OF MASTER (1)

The longer the better. Found the mile too short last time out. Blinker-pacifiers replaced by winkers. Working a treat on the training tracks. Big run in store.

3rd Pick: SHEPHERD’S HYMN (3)

Model of consistency. Trip right up his alley. Winkers replaced by blinkers. Will be in the mix for a long way.

4th Pick: SPECIAL OPS (4)

Two wins in a row. Meets stronger lot but on the way he won at his last start, he can measure up here. Each-way chance.

RACE 7 (15:30) CLASS 5 (2)

1st Pick: OUR SHOWCASE (3)

Twice a course and distance winner and has dropped a further couple of points. This is not an easy race to work out and this fellow could be the answer.

2nd Pick: NADEEM SAPPHIRE (6)

Very poor form figures to his name but Ruan Maia is booked (good record for stable) and he is a course and distance scorer as well. Interesting.

3rd Pick: BALOR (1)

Better last time and not impossible he can string two sound runs together.

4th Pick: SMILING PROUD (5)

Would prefer a mile but won last time out and must be included here.

RACE 8 (16:00) CLASS 4

1st Pick: RADIANT SUCCESS (6)

Three-time winner (1100m to 1200m) from Victoria, Australia. Sprinter-type who likes the sting out of the ground. Has trialled nicely. Can score on debut.

2nd Pick: SACRED GIFT (1)

Drops in class. Didn’t act in the going last start. Backed off since. Trial winner on January 5. Not without claims.

3rd Pick: RIVER ROCA (12)

Coming off a two-in-a-row but in easier company. Form has remained the same. Outside chance.

4th Pick: IT’S GOT IT ALL (5)

Third in a blanket finish last start. Nice low gate. If he reproduces his last-start form, he should be in the firing line again.

RACE 9 (16:30) KRANJI STAKES A (SET WEIGHTS)

1st Pick: SURPASS NATURAL (1)

Showed his usual combative side at last-start win. More of a Polytrack specialist but does boast one win on turf. Another dose is well within his compass.

2nd Pick: LIM’S CRAFT (9)

Came from last to run third to Sincerely in a Class 2 race over 1400m last Saturday. On the quick back-up. Won’t be out of his depth even if he is up against tougher customers.

3rd Pick: GRAND KOONTA (3)

Never a factor in the heavy track in last year’s EW Barker Trophy. Ignore that run as he was also checked in the running. Handy first-up record. Strong claims.

4th Pick: FAME STAR (2)

Not the same horse who won the EW Barker Trophy in 2019 but has been showing glimpses of a return to form of late, but horror gate works against him again. Blinkers off.
