Wednesday’s action in LaLiga kicks off at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. It sees two of Spain’s most historic clubs clash and while it’s only a couple of years ago that these clubs were battling for Champions League places, the gulf in quality is now plain for all to see.

Even if they win, Sevilla would be mathematically out of the title race by the end of the night if Atleti win their game later, but they would still have a shot at finishing in the top three. Eden Hazard’s late goal denied them a fine win away to Real Madrid at the weekend but it was Inaki Williams’ late winner in their last outing at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan that really killed their title dream. Two wins from three their final three games will see them set a new record for their highest ever top flight points tally and they should get halfway to that objective here.

It has been another busy week or so in the soap opera that is Valencia CF. Voro is back at the helm following Javi Gracia’s sacking and there were major protests outside Mestalla at the weekend against the club’s owners with an estimated 6,000 fans present.

On the pitch, Valencia did the business with a 3-0 win in a key game against Real Valladolid. It wasn’t quite as comfortable as it sounds but the result moved Los Che onto 39 points and ensures they won’t have any final day brushes with relegation to worry about. Uncertain times lie ahead and if there is motivation to be found for these Valencia players, it may sadly come in terms of putting themselves in the shop window for a move away with Maxi Gomez doing just that with a brace at the weekend.

PREDICTION

Real Valladolid had more than 3 times as many shots as Valencia in their 3-0 defeat at Mestalla at the weekend so it wasn’t as though Voro came in and found a solution to all their problems. They’ve been woeful away for most of this season, averaging just 0.65 points per game on the road and it’s hard to see past a comfortable home win here.
